Testtoob.com Launches Locally With Junior Achievement BizCamp
for 9 to 12 Year Olds
New Startup Online Intends to be the World’s Science Classroom from Louisville, Ky.
(July 10, 2008)—Testtoob.com, an online learning community of young people around the world fostering self-expression, wonder, and fun in science, has partnered this summer with the Louisville Junior Achievement BizCamp program. The weekly programs at JA foster independence and innovative thinking for students, ages 9 to 12 years old. The last summer JA BizCamp runs July 14-July 18th.
Testtoob.com has launched a premier video sharing and social networking community for middle and high-school science students. The only Web 2.0 destination that is exclusively focused on science for kids, the site enables students to post video of their science experiments, rate content posted by others, and share their videos with students around the world. By partnering with
national science communities, foundations, school systems, and corporations, TestToob will create the World’s Science Classroom.
Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana has incorporated hands-on science experiments into their Biz Camp curriculum. Each day, the students conduct a science experiment, video tape their experience, and post the videos to TestToob. Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana’s President Debra Hoffer indicated, “The science experiments are yet another application for experiential learning that helps kids to apply what they have learned in school. The kids are having fun while learning. We are grateful to Testtoob for this opportunity!”
“TestToob is founded on the belief that all kids are naturally scientists, and the world is their laboratory. We encourage kids to experience the wonder and fun of science by filming their experiments and sharing them with other students,” said Lopa Mehrotra, Founder & CEO of TestToob.
The business model does call for sponsorship and involvement from outside organizations that support science, including the upcoming Idea Festival in September in Louisville. Testtoob.com will participate in The Big Jam on Sept. 25th from 9AM to 10AM at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
