Sodexho Commits to NKL Cash Handling in 2003

Released: 2-19-03
First Trial Sites Prove Cost-Savings in Less than 90 Days for Loss Prevention and Quick, Accurate
Cash-Out Procedures.

Goals: Protect Cash and Protect Time.
Sodexho (NYSE: SDX), as North America’s leading provider of food and facilities management
services, was interested in reduced operating costs and ultimately an opportunity for sales
growth. Hospital cafeteria sales have been trending downward industry wide in the last two years.
The company requested that NKL Cash Handling handle several beta trial installations to prove that
cost savings could be achieved through electronic cash handling. Primary objectives included loss
prevention, and quick cash-out procedures at high-volume hospital cafeteria properties.

Client Profile:
Sodexho (www.sodexhoUSA.com) is the leading provider of food and facilities management in the US
and Canada, with $5.5 billion in annual sales. Sodexho offers innovative outsourcing solutions in
food service, housekeeping, grounds keeping, plant operations and maintenance, asset management,
and laundry services to more than 6,000 corporations, health care, long term care and retirement
centers, schools, college campuses, military and remote sites in North America. Headquartered in
Gaithersburg, MD, Sodexho is a proud endorser of the Global Sullivan Principles for Corporate
Responsibility (www.globalsullivanprinciples.org).

Overview of Initial NKL Cash Handling Installations:
Several NKL Cash Handling installations were made in 2002 alongside sister product, Image Vault
for digital video surveillance. The last of several beta trials was installed at University of
Cleveland Medical Center (Cleveland, Ohio) in August 2002.

The typical cash management system from NKL Cash Handling includes cash validators at each cash
register, and cash dispensers including coin changing tied to a data management software tool
called NKL Edge. A validator or a cash dispenser can act as the controller of its total smart safe
system. The combination of NKL and Image Vault technologies, both from FKI Security Products,
allowed for complete POS transaction tracking. Sodexho managers can see what the transaction was
as a video image and as a receipt.

Anticipated Benefits:
Loss Prevention and Employee Security.“We anticipated increasing security of cash handling
dramatically for both employees and managers. This system allows a department head to track
electronically who’s in and out of the safe and is designed for levels of access control,”
explained Sue Simons, director of analytical and performance systems at Sodexho Health Care
Services in Tinley Park, Ill.

Decreased Cash Counting for All Staff. There was also an immediate understanding that the
installations would decrease the amount of time required for cash counting and accounting
reconciliations. “Some cafeterias see such heavy volume that there may be up to 16 cash-outs per
day, and each cashier generally handles his or her own cash-out,” said Simons.

Time-Savings. Cashiers Can Buy Change Directly. With NKL electronic cash handling, a cashier can
avoid interacting with management every time change is needed. The system automatically records
what change has been dispersed or received by a cashier with a time and date stamp.

Verified, Tangible Results
Substantial Time Savings. Simons’ reports soft savings in labor reduction. The 30 minute average
cash-out has been reduced, per cashier, to about five minutes, freeing them up to handling the
customers.
Per-Cafeteria Sales Increases. Simons also reports from 2- 5 percent increases in sales in the
months since the NKL Cash Handling systems have been in place. “We have seen more than a 5.3
percent increase in sales at our first installation for year-end. This is very encouraging and we
have begun to evaluate at least 38 other facilities for NKL Cash Handling systems in our network,”
she said. Simons said an additional three installations will occur in the first two quarters of
2003 with plans to review NKL Cash Handling for other Sodexho divisions, including its Campus
Services Division by summer 2003. The scheduled installations will include United Children’s
Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota; and the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Ohio.

Return on Investment (ROI). “We know that there is a return on the investment in NKL Cash Handling
systems within 20 weeks, instead of the originally thought six months. This makes electronic cash
management an important part of our bottom-line profitability,” Simons said.

Why NKL Cash Handling?
Simons of Sodexho indicated that NKL was willing to work with Sodexho to make any necessary
software changes to interface IT and cash register systems. “They were very responsive and
investigative in working through all our environments. They are available for consultation and
field testing.”

“This was a major factor in our decisions to move forward,” she said. For example, NKL Cash
Handling wrote in the “vend till feature”, so that multiple vend tubes could be used
simultaneously at the beginning of a shift. NKL Edge software allows senior management and onsite
managers to track in real-time each cafeteria’s performance based on their own pre-selected
metrics, or to develop graphs and quick charts in Microsoft Access. The NKL Edge PLUS software
connects instantly into safes for total programming and key master authority. These metrics can
then be compared and contrasted against archived data, other facilities, or grouped in regions or
by division for total results.

NKL Cash Handling Service and Support
24/7 support is offered to all NKL clients, including Sodexho, for maximum performance. Based on
the Sodexho trials, validator and dispensing units had bill jams less than one percent of the time.
Brandon M. Ring, National Account Manager for NKL Cash Handling, indicated that the NKL Edge
software was being enhanced for release in Q1 2003 as NKL Edge Plus. “We look to build a
feature-rich electronic cash management system that is easy to use and economical to install,” he
added. Sodexo results were typical of the customer base in the retail, restaurant, and convenience
store sectors in 2002. “The customer is our priority and we look at customization requests as our
field research and product development opportunities.”

NKL Cash Handling Completes CE Certification
Brand Expands its International Presence

Released: 2-17-03
NKL Cash Handling’s family of products including its cash dispenser safes (D8 family), cash
validator safes (V2 family) and AXC family safes have recently received CE certification.

Companies handling large sums of money are looking to control operational procedures and report
what and who is accessing their safes at any given time. The AuditLok XLV system found in NKL Cash
Handling’s product line can monitor access and provide cash/user/event reports to a central
database, validate paper money and dispense coins. The safes can even interface with POS machines.

The CE mark is a mandatory European marking for certain product groups to conform with health and
safety requirements set out in European Directives. The letters ‘CE’ are an abbreviation of
Conformité Européenne, which is French for European conformity.

CE certification requires testing at a certified laboratory and allows NKL Cash Handling to sell
its electronic cash management products in the fifteen member states of the European Union and
Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

“Sales to United States corporations with operations in the European Union will continue to play a
role in our growth model. We anticipate aggressive sales and marketing in this region within the
next five years,” said NKL Cash Handling’s Director of Marketing Steve Aronson.

Goods sold into the European Economic Community since January 1996 are required to bear the CE
mark. The designation has no meaning for goods sold in the USA, except if the customer in the USA
will be including the goods in a system that will be exported into Europe. The CE designation
represents an agreement on one set of standards for the entire European Union for products.

NKL Cash Handling products carrying this designation include: D8CH32221, D8XH32221, D8CH3222,
D8XH3222, D8R32221, D8R3222, VC2CE2817J10, V2R-2817J10, V2R-2417J10, AXC32221, AXC3222, AXC29201,
and AXC2920.

Kaiser Permanente Invests in NKL
Growing Security Concerns Warranty $3 Million Investment in NKL and Biometrics Technology

Released: 2-17-03
Kaiser-Permanente in California has invested $3 million in NKL Cash Handling systems for this year
for its medical facilities based on the growing size of co-payments made in cash at physician
practices. The Kaiser-Permanente health care program is a national prepaid group-practice HMO and
California’s second largest partnership.

NKL Cash Handling products from FKI Security Group in New Albany, IN were the first to market with
a biometrics entry solution in the cash handling safes category in September 2002. The FKI
Security Group goes beyond traditional safe technology and adds a turnkey system for cash
management, financial auditing, financial tracking, and cash handling. Director of Marketing Steve
Aronson of NKL Cash Handling said that all NKL Auditlok XLV products can be upgraded with a
biometrics reader in less than an hour for under $1000 retail.

“We made the decision to replace existing drop safes with intelligent safes that offer cash
dispensing and biometrics entry. Our primary goal was to decrease the length an employee had to
travel in a building to make deposits. We see this as a very real life safety issue for
employees,” explained Project Manager Jeri Bennett of Patient Business Services for Kaiser
Foundation Health Plan, Inc.
Other key benefits of better cash management cited were: loss prevention and employee security,
decreased cash carrying for all staff; easy entry into an audited safe network; and time-savings
in access to cash for key employees.

The first installation went live for Kaiser-Permanente at its Folsom facility in
Capital-Sacramento Valley, Ca. in October 2002.

A rollout of approximately 300 Autobank D8C units with Auditlok XLV and biometrics is anticipated
in the first and second quarter of 2003. The NKL Cash Handling network will cover participating
medical office buildings and hospitals as well as some pharmacies.

“This is a very exciting technology and will make a big difference in our operations,” Bennett
added. “We are using both fingerprinting and pin numbers now for our employees, but by the end of
2003 we will rely on biometrics,” Bennett explained.

For Corporate Brand Identification, FKI Security Group is Chosen

Released: 1-31-03
Effective Feb. 1, 2003, Fire King International, Inc., FireKing Security Products LLC, and Image
Vault LLC will do business as FKI Security Group (www.fkisecuritygroup.com). The five brands now
marketed and sold under FKI Security Group are: FireKing, NKL Cash Handling, Meilink Safes, Gary
Safes, and Image Vault Digital Video Recorders. “We are making this change to better reflect the
broad capabilities of our product line and the diverse expertise in security and loss prevention
we offer,” said Director of Marketing Steve Aronson.

After informal polling and surveying its clients and vendors, these changes were made by President
and CEO Van Carlisle. “The name FireKing is well recognized in the office products industry for
our fireproof cabinets but is misunderstood by our other audiences. The company has grown over the
years to include safes, digital surveillance, and electronic cash handling. Loss prevention and
life safety are important areas of growth for our product offerings.” He added that FKI Security
Group is more than a manufacturer of security products. The group’s hardware and software
offerings demonstrate its expert status as a team of security professionals keeping pace with
market demands. “While our fireproof cabinets are an important part of our business, we are
heavily vested in product development for electronic and digital technologies through NKL Cash
Handling and Image Vault respectively. We define the security products for the future,” Carlisle
added.

FKI Security Group will continue to market the FireKing brand name (www.fireking.com) in the
office products industry. Carlisle commented, “FireKing dominates the fireproof file category and
we will continue to support the brand name FireKing very aggressively.”

The safe brands under the FKI Security Group umbrella will be marketed individually when
appropriate. Meilink Safes (www.meilinksafe.com) are marketed as traditional fireproof safes “for
serious security.” Gary Safes (www.garysafe.com) feature plate and custom safes. The most recent
addition to FKI Security Group is NKL Cash Handling (www.nklsafe.com) for “a smarter way to handle
cash” which was acquired in its entirety four years ago. NKL cash handling is a premiere cash
management product serving the loss prevention industry. The brand goes beyond traditional safe
technology and adds a turnkey system for cash management, financial auditing, financial tracking,
and cash handling.

Image Vault (www.image-vault.com) is a digital surveillance product line for “a smarter way to
view security.” Image Vault was introduced in 1998 and has quickly become a leading digital video
recorder in the retail category. “Our research shows Image Vault to be one of the top three
recognized brands among retail chain executives. We will capitalize on this brand name recognition
and expand into other categories.” said Aronson.

FKI Security Group
Privately-held FKI Security Group, formerly marketed as FireKing Security Products LLC, is based
in New Albany, Indiana. Member brands include: FireKing, Meilink Safes, Gary Safes, NKL Cash
Handling, and Image Vault Digital Video Recorders. Van Carlisle serves as CEO and President of the
group.

NKL Edge Software Released

Released: 12-9-02
NKL Edge software, Version 1.0 has been released to assist in generating on-demand reporting from
NKL cash management systems. The software allows the exporting of data from NKL master-slave
controllers to generate exceptions reporting and related financial tracking of operations at
multiple locations. It is designed to work with NKL Auditlok XLV money manager which is exclusive
to the NKL cash handling product line. The new software runs on all Windows operating systems,
including Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP.

“NKL Edge software makes it so easy to generate financial reports on the fly. We export the data
into Microsoft Access and can show immediately where exceptions have occurred. This makes my job
much easier as I can audit or track transactions on demand and I can look at the company’s history
at specific locations and probe further into their daily financials,” said Senior Manager Sue
Simons of SODEXHO.

Raw data can be formatted for presentation in Microsoft Access for corporate reports. Reports
direct from NKL Edge software can be seen with ease on the PC and printed on standard-size paper.
Basic reporting with NKL Edge software includes enrolled user reports, operator reports, cash
reports, buy change receipts, load receipts report, audit reports, partial deposit reports, past
end of day reports and void reports. There are more than 100 event filters and some can be set for
duress activation. Autocalls for key data can be set up system wide to automate the reporting
process or manual calls can be made into system data at will.

For administrators, NKL Edge PLUS software addresses the need for restoring accounting defaults,
setting up door delays, finding or reassigning PINs, and restoring store defaults through
administrator level security options.

NKL Edge software retails for under $500 per individual user for small businesses. Site licenses
are available for corporations that have multiple locations. Companies who have purchased the
software for internal trials to date include SODEXHO, and Kaiser Permanente.
-more-

The software can be activated through direct cable hookups, via modems. Or through a network
interface card. Each safe gets an IP address per device by region. For example, in a four store
franchise, there would be four NKL cash handling systems with AuditLok XLV running in the four
stores. The software can be used at the corporate headquarters and can pull data from each of the
four store NKL systems twenty-four hours a day/seven days a week.

“The NKL Edge software options will impress CEOs and CFOs looking at their cash in various
operations. Employee theft concerns and old-fashioned errors are reviewed and financial decisions
can be made within the work day. No more waiting for month-end numbers. With this software you
know exactly what was removed after the door was opened and when,” said Mike Smith, NKL’s Vice
President of Research and Development. The NKL Edge PLUS software connects instantly into safes
for total programming and key master authority.

“We believe an NKL system and software install pays for itself in the fast food franchise or
similar retail establishment in less than six months,” he added.

FKI Forms Locksmith Council

Released: 12-9-02

FKI Security Group (formerly Fire King International) has formed its first FKI Security Locksmith
Council to advise the company on overall industry demand, trends, and product development, among
other priorities, laying groundwork for an expanded Service Partner Network. Council members have
agreed to serve a two-year term and participate in several regular meetings designed to track
market needs, particularly in the areas of product innovation, customer service and technical
support on all product lines, including Meilink® safes, Gary® safes, and NKL® cash handling
systems.

The six-member locksmith council will look to enhance and refine procedural approaches to repair,
technical support tips, peer-to-peer expertise, and pricing guidelines for the company’s Service
Partner Network.

“We are looking to these key industry players for their personal knowledge of what will assist
them best in their everyday duties of servicing our client base. They hear customer feedback,
understand what drives product development, and can offer a hands-on approach to technical
support,” said David Goffinet, VP of Operations for FKI Security Group.

Today’s security environment calls for educations regarding technology, members agreed in their
first organized meeting on November 13, 2002 at FKI Security Group. FKI Security Group now offers
software solutions for backend reporting; 24/7 audit trails; and even biometrics, placing emphasis
on the new categories of smart safes and cash management systems. FKI Security Group will focus on
combination security and surveillance in 2003, Goffinet said to the attendees of the Council’s
first official meeting. “The ultimate question for the end user remains, ‘How much are you willing
to lose?’ In many restaurants, the ice cream machine gets more attention than the security
components. FKI Security Group is one of the best brands in providing the end user with simplified
systems that deliver intelligence,” said Council member Jim Curry, CEO of Mobile Lock in Chicago,
IL.

Other appointed members of the FKI Security Group Locksmith Council include: John McErlean,
Freedom Locksmiths, NY, NY; Gary Hardigee, Georgia Safe and Lock, Central Georgia; Debbie Barker,
Kenton Brothers, Kansas City, MO; Joe Jacob, Arapahoe/Clark County, Aurora, CO; and Dave
Diederich, Diederich Security, Southern California.

FKI Security Group (formerly Fire King International) has been committed to loss prevention since
its beginning in 1951 as a manufacturer of high-quality fireproof files. After acquiring Meilink
in 1991 and Gary Safe Company and NKL Industries in 1999, FKI Security Group evolved from records
protection into a broad-based security company. The company is recognized as one of the premier
security and loss prevention companies in the nation.

About FKI Security Group
The FKI Security Group manages several security product lines for all levels of customers from
small business to the Fortune 500 and government entities. The FKI Security Group consists of Gary
safes, Meilink safes, and NKL cash handling. The division is based in New Albany, IN and is

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Executive Backgrounder
Date: May 2, 2002

Creation of EGov XPRESS Solutions Center Offers Knowledge-Sharing for All Levels of Agency Need
with the Federal Government

(Washington, DC)—The creation of the EGov XPRESS Solutions Center will offer knowledge-sharing,
best practices, infrastructure assessment and technology implementation for eGov initiatives
addressing all levels of agency need within the Federal Government. This center is a new
initiative of FirstGov to address the disparate and rising needs for eGovernment. This is a center
devoted to solutions-based problem-solving in line with marketplace demands. The king pins of this
center by FirstGov will lead through best practices and expert knowledge-sharing. By bringing
together the known information available on best practices throughout egovernment and by
capitalizing on knowledge-sharing for information technology implementation strategies, the focus
of technology-centric purchases will be “real-world.”

Agencies, departments and eGov initiatives often get confused because the implementation of their
mission follows a loosely-tracked, hands-off management approach, in order to involve the most
number of departments for input and fit budget cycles. Data synthesis and interdepartmental
cooperation will be greatly enhanced by the use of the EGov XPRESS Solutions Center which will
organize, prioritize and monetize past experience from all federal agencies involved. In addition,
traditional business modeling, work flow assessment, pilot projects, and standards adherence will
simplify modernization within the ranks, including appropriate uses of web-based technologies for
ecommerce, online scheduling, and relationship management. Project scope will be controlled
through proper planning in a formalized process under EGov XPRESS Solutions Center methodologies.
Proven-track records within the federal agencies will be acknowledged by best practices
announcements and dissemination. Final decisions will be determined not just as academic exercises
for political reasons or by following agenda-oriented thinking based on departmental edicts. The
process at EGov XPRESS Solutions Center will take into account the need for rationalization of
project goals and access to top-level appropriate expertise.
Cooperation among key agencies involved in electronic media with the Federal Government will play
a major role in this implementation. This will include the Federal Technology Service, and other
electronic government and information technology resources using the General Services
Administration.

The process approach for every initiative brought to EGov XPRESS Solutions Center will include:
reusable business principles from existing eGov models; mandated security measures,
interoperability and market-centric analysis. The steps will embrace the following:

* Solutions technical assistance
* Technology tools
* Independent validation and verification
* Systems integration
* Program management.

EGov XPRESS solutions provided will include a broad list of possible domain-oriented suggestions
such as the use of search engines; eGov analysis, portals, ecommerce, citizen relationship
management; web-based transactions, voice-recognition, scheduling, idea management, and web-based
community exchange.

The EGov XPRESS Solutions Center will offer a one-stop shop approach, allowing the agency to
choose its need level for support. Clients of the center can agree to implement subscription-based
software choices or seek high levels of customization and integration. Some agencies will only
need the research provided by the competitive intelligence gathering at the facility.

eGov mandates often require immediate action in a changing world of hardware, software, and
web-based environments, so EGov EXPRESS Solutions Center intends to show the path for
enterprise-wide solutions architecture and reference specific implementations as its champions in
key categories of service.

Most projects with eGov initiatives can be shifted and shaped by a review of culture within the
ranks, work flow discussions, vendor selection, and internal community management. A synergy with
other federal efforts regarding security and standards will remain an essential part of FirstGov’s
plan for this center.

The ability to support small agencies and move initiatives into action with true cost savings
figures heavily at FirstGov for 2002-2003. All services offered by EGov EXPRESS Solutions Center
will be based on customer surveys and JAD data collection.

The final result of this center will be a cohesive eGov system with multiple participatory
organizations using a hub and spoke system of referral for expertise.

Referrals and related pioneering support for this new center will come from GSA, the Fed CIO
Council, Fed Architects’ Council and other related entities in the months ahead.

Nation’s Top Energy Traders Subscribe for Valuable Information Service

LOUISVILLE, KY. (April 17, 2002) – Genscape Inc. (www.genscape.com), the originator of real-time
power supply information throughout the United States, announced that the company has tripled its
customer base thus far in 2002. Currently, more than 25 of the nation’s largest energy traders
have subscribed to Genscape Power Version 2.0 or are engaged in pre-subscription testing.

“Response to Genscape’s product since January has been strong, confirming the value of Genscape’s

such as Aquila and Cinergy place considerable value on Genscape’s real-time supply information.”
said Sean O’Leary, Chief Marketing Officer and co-founder of Genscape.

“A growing list of Genscape Power Version 2.0 users has seen the value of Genscape’s real-time
power supply information year-round, not just in the more volatile, upcoming summer months.
Genscape expects this summer to be a period of rapid new client acquisition, as Genscape’s plant
monitoring network in the U.S. nears completion. Also encouraging is the amount of regional
utility interest in Genscape’s products.” said Mike McAuliffe, Vice President of Sales and
Marketing at Genscape.

Genscape’s information gathering and distribution system relies primarily on a proprietary,
patent-pending technology to monitor the real-time outputs of the United States’ important power

transmission paths, and associated information.

participants.

Network Expansion Announced

LOUISVILLE, KY. (March 11, 2002) – Genscape (www.genscape.com), the originator of real-time power
supply information, will unveil Genscape Power 2.0 at GasMart/Power2002 (www.gasmart.com) in Reno,
NV March 18-20. Product demonstrations and free trials will be available at Genscape’s booth #326
during GasMart/Power 2002. Benefits of Genscape Power 2.0 include: (a) management for customer
owned power-producing assets; (b) reliable current and historic analytics data; (c) algorithmic
application for market-demand trade determination; (d) market intelligence; (e) best-of-class
desktop support for valuable energy industry employees and (f) immediate event alerts. “Genscape
has quietly grown from a spring 2001 beta product to a nationwide monitoring network used by many
of the top 25 energy traders. We invite parties at the show to stop by and view Genscape Power 2.0
and see the information that is now moving power markets,” offered Sean O’Leary, Genscape CMO.
Fee-based trial subscriptions can be obtained by contacting O’Leary (502-583-3675).

Genscape also announces its monitoring network extension throughout the United States. Customer
demand has spurred Genscape’s network completion in ERCOT and the WSCC. Genscape’s network will be
completed at approximately 225 plants and 25 strategic transmission paths in 3Q/02. Genscape
employs passive monitoring technology to produce highly accurate estimates of high-voltage
transmission line power flows and power plant production amounts using patent-pending proprietary
technology. Genscape updates this information on a continuous basis, and reports significant
events to customers in less than 2 minutes. David Doctor, Genscape CEO, explained, “Genscape soon
will monitor more than 80% of the largest U.S. power plants, including more than 2,000 individual
high-voltage transmission lines, allowing Genscape to effectively determine real-time usage and
loads throughout the U.S. power grid.”

GENSCAPE TECHNOLOGY

Genscape’s information gathering and distribution system relies primarily on a proprietary,
patent-pending technology to monitor the real-time outputs of the United States’ important power
plants and high-voltage transmission lines. Information reported to customers includes highly
accurate estimates of the real-time electrical output for power plants; power flows over strategic
transmission paths, and associated information.
