Dawn - Thanks for the note back. To clarify, we had safety signs posted in the cabin and around the spring as soon as it was reopened. The sign Mark Warren originally discussed with you, and that we wanted to confer with you about, was a special one that we wanted to have in the area in memory of Annmarie. This was meant to be above and beyond the safety signs that are already there. Our intention now is that this information will be located inside the actual cabin (final version attached). The signs that are already posted are safety warnings in and around the site including
buoys in the water. Thanks again for your input. You will see that we incorporated most of it into the final version. You bring up a good point
about a 911 phone. The feasibility of supplying phones at remote locations is something we will need to research further since many of our recreation
areas are in a similar situation.
Thanks again, Denise

Subject RE: Sign for Sweetwater Cabin
Denise, Thank you for your responding. So when is the signage in the cabin going up? I'd like to see a copy of the final version. I believe there is a National Geographic special that's going to occur shortly on the death of Annmarie. And, that filming is underway.
I was promised that at least 3 to 4 signs would also be going up in the waters in the area regarding Swim at Your Own Risk or No Swimming. The tagline was to be:
Annmarie Campbell, Age 23. Death by 11 Ft. 6 Inch Alligator in This Location on May 14, 2006.
This would be a deterrent and a public safety platform. Mark Warren made this commitment to me shortly after Annmarie's death.
Let me know when the signs can be expected to go up.
Otherwise, I will continue to be in touch with an ever-increasing voice. I have suffered enough with all the craziness of media, and being told that we should only protect the vegetation in a wilderness area by Fish and Game people. This is a lot of fine line reading of a statute. We are talking about human life here. And, it is worth something. We are all connected on the planet.
And, why cannot a 911 phone be placed in the cabin? Is the Ocala Star-Banner can get a call out on its walkie-talkie system, there is a way to do it.
I was also told there is an opportunity to put an artistic water sculpture memorial, and I have discussed this with an artist of outdoor natural exhibits. This is a conversation worth having at some point.
Thanks, Dawn

Hello Dawn. I am the Public Affairs Officer for the National Forests in Florida. I have been away for some time and while I was gone I know you were dealing with my public affairs specialist Heather Callahan. Now that I am back, I will be your point of contact for the Forest Service. Heather passed on to me your suggestions for things to be included in the signs at Sweetwater Cabin. I think you are absolutely correct. We have incorporated your thoughts. I appreciate your input and I apologize for any additional stress this process may have caused you. Please be assured that our only wish was to do what was right to ensure the safety of all future forest visitors and to properly honor Annmarie. Thank you again for your help. Denise
